This engagement session was such a fun one for me! I’ve known Sam for a long time, we grew up in 4H together! From our years of showing rabbits in the same class and hanging out at the fair, I never could have dreamed I’d get the honor of photographing his wedding day! I’ve loved how this “job” has allowed me to reconnect with so many people I’ve known through the years! And it’s given me a role in their lives that allows me to serve them in ways I never could have dreamed when we knew each other before!
I can remember being at a 4H picnic with Sam and Lisa before they even started dating! I didn’t know Lisa too well, she had just joined our club not long before this, but Sam had known her since Middle School. The sparks were definitely flying between these two and I wasn’t the only one to notice. A few of our friends teased Sam a bit about all of it, but none of us could have guessed that these two would be getting married one day! They began dating after Lisa’s freshman year of college and this last summer, Sam proposed to Lisa in front of a waterfall! Complete with a photographer hiding in the bushes to capture it all!
The day we met at Devou Park in Cincinnati for their session, it was a rainy mess! My sister and I sat in the car looking at the skyline and praying that the Lord would move the fog away for just a few minutes! This was the only day that worked for all of us because Sam was headed back south to finish out his college career and Lisa was headed back home! The Lord came through though, in such a great way! The mist and fog cleared up just enough for us to be able to the skyline clearly! These two were such naturals and we were able to get everything we needed with that amazing background! For most sessions, I’m wanting sunshine to capture golden hour! But the overcast worked in our favor this day because it gave us the freedom to move around quickly and escape the cold as soon as we could!
I simply cannot wait for their wedding day in Dayton this May! For now though, enjoy some of my favorites from their rainy session at Devou Park and Eden Park in Cincinnati! And take in that skyline! We prayed hard to be able to see that!
